Learn to Play American Mahjong: 3 Lesson Series Three consecutive lessons that take you from total beginner to confidently joining any table. Your three sessions: When you register, you're enrolled in all three lessons for this series. One registration, one payment, done. Lesson One: Tiles & Flow. We start with my Quick Start Mahjong Card, which trains you to read the National Mah Jongg League Card (the standard for American Mahjong) without overwhelm. You'll learn the tiles and the flow of the game by playing with expert guidance. Bring nothing but whatever you'd like to eat or drink. Lesson Two: The Full Card & The Charleston. We level up to the full NMJL Card. You'll learn to read it, do the Charleston - the choreographed series of passes that precedes game play - and we'll play a real game. You'll need your own NMJL Card for this lesson (they're $15; I'll tell you exactly how to order it at Lesson One). Lesson Three: Guided Play. Put it all into action in a guided play experience. You'll leave ready to join any table. The details: Lessons take place in my Mahjong Studio at Flourish Ayurveda Center in Columbia Tusculum. Maximum 8 students per series so everyone gets real attention. All materials provided except your NMJL Card. Price covers all three sessions. Miss a session? Life happens.
